Hey Guys, It’s Katherine! This is one of those little pieces that was written during my last day at Writer’s House. This is in dedication to my amazing friend Jade. We sat around during our free time on Friday and wrote love poems for each other. This girl stole my heart and I love her to pieces. So this is ‘Dear J’
Hey there, long time no see I know. I promise there will be more content soon. Anyway, I have the first little taste of a new series of posts on some writing workshops I did with METAL which is a creative organisation. I have recently taken part in their writer’s house course and it was phenomenal. We were lead by four extraordinary poets and I will be revealing what they taught me over the next few posts.
I have a little teaser of the first bit of poetry I wrote on the course. Only four lines, but the first four lines of an amazing adventure.
Is it wrong of me to think,
that you so alone, would grip so tight?
How is it that though your mask falls,
and you are so cold, that you would still take flight?
Before getting into the main article I want to clarify that this was written as one of my practise papers in A level English Language and not all of the views are my own personal opinions and were expressed to show a directed opinion in my mock exam. I achieved 30/40 marks in this question and was really happy with the outcome of this paper. I hope you enjoy this example answer from the 2016 AS English Language paper 2. (more…)
This is a piece of descriptive writing for question 5 on the new AQA English Language GCSE Exams. I’m so pleased with my results I got a Level 8 in English Language and a Level 7 in English Literature. I couldn’t find the exact picture that was in the mock test but we had to write a story about a lighthouse in a storm. It’s important to remember for anyone sitting the exams that the mark scheme is the same for descriptive writing as it is for writing a story, so make sure you write a very descriptive story with only a couple of events within it. I scored 28/40 for this question. I’m not sure about content and grammar marks exactly but I hope you enjoy x
Hey Guys, It’s Katherine. Welcome to my blog. This is where I will be telling you as much as I know about writing and life. I want to be like a big sister to you all and help you out in any way I can so if there are any particular kinds of things you want me to talk about feel free to message me and I will try my best to give you the best advice I can. I myself am a lovely little studenty bug that is about to be squished by life (and A Levels). I’m hoping that some of you will be in a similar position; whether that be you want to write, or you want to know how to escape the uncertain demise of your life that occurs when you’re a student. I will hopefully be keeping to some kind of schedule during this crazy part of my life and be sharing with you a variety of content from writing tips and tags, to how not to fail exams or how to cope with mental health. Feel free to send me questions or topics you would like me to discuss x
