Hey guys, its Katherine! I was rummaging through my old files and I found this piece I wrote way back in year 9 when we did our anti-smoking campaigns. I thought it was quite nice to share it with you all. Updates for my new series on my time in writers house coming soon xx
Is it wrong of me to think,
that you so alone, would grip so tight?
How is it that though your mask falls,
and you are so cold, that you would still take flight?
Hey Guys and Girls, it’s Katherine. This one has been quite a hard poem to post. Last week I was confirmed as a member of the Church of England. I have been on an alpha course and over the last couple of months, my faith has grown so enormously. I feel so loved and blessed by the family I have grown in the church and in the friendships that will stay with me all the days of my life. This poem is my ode to the love that I bare for my saviour Jesus Christ and how I can see him at work.
Hey guys, it’s Katherine. This is another poem, this one a little bit suggestive. It is about a courtesan and her many lovers, but instead of making it scandalous or demonising the behaviour, I wanted to show it more elegantly. It is based on one of the characters I created a while ago and she has since changed a lot, but I felt this particular poem was supposed to be shared.
Hey guys, it’s Katherine. I found this poem when I was looking through one of my old school books from when we covered gothic literature. It was fun to write and I think it is always nice to find bits of old writing you can relearn to love. Don’t look too deeply into this one… I might write like this from time to time but these generally aren’t thoughts that cross my mind on a regular basis.
Hey guys, it’s your girl Katherine with some hopefully uplifting rhyme in an odd sort of way (life is bad for everyone at times, we might as well laugh about it). From next week it will hopefully start being some of my newer work rather than my old, found pieces because as much as I like to recover old poetry, it is always nice to write the new things too! Anyhow, I thought I would share this with you today enjoy!
Hey guys, it’s Katherine. This next poem is one of the first poems that I ever wrote and it was for one of my English projects in year 7. I think it was 5th November so my teacher lets the class do a creative writing piece about Guy Fawkes Night. I was 11 at the time so no judging. This is about a couple who fall in love during fireworks night. Quite short, but very sweet and innocent. Now on to the Poetry
Hey guys, It’s Katherine. This is my other published poem mentioned in My experience with Young Writers, that I am very excited to share with you. I entered a young writers competition with the help of my school at the age of 13 and was successful in getting published in the ‘War of Words’ anthology. It is about my parents getting divorced and I was just doing angry and didn’t really understand my own feelings. I really find writing helps clear my mind. If you want to enter a young writers competition then check out their website for the latest news https://www.youngwriters.co.uk/. On to the poetry!
Hey guys, it’s Katherine. This is one of the poems I talked about in my previous post My experience with Young Writers. This is the more recently written of the two and covers an important message I feel should be shared. I was so incredibly thrilled when the letter came saying I had been published in the ‘teenage voices’ anthology. Be sure to check them out https://www.youngwriters.co.uk/. I am going to start regularly posting my own poetry as encouragement to myself to improve my craft. For the first couple of posts, it will be work that I have already written and want to share. If there are any topics you would like me to write about send me a message, whether it be any tips and tricks or themes for poems you want me to write. Anyway… on to the poetry!
